Events, feasts and manifestations

In Trapani province the ancient tradition are  widely and it has always been a land rich i works of art and traditions handed down to us by the peoples succeding one another as its masters. Today it is going though a particulary fovourable moment for the revalutation and preservation of ancient tradition.

One of the most popular and widely celebrated feasts is Easter, with celebtations of various kinds being held in big and small places.

The most important of the  processions of the Easter period is "Trapani Mysteri". The celebration start on the afternoon of Good Friday at Trapani where partecipate all town guilds (Tradesmen's Associations) with the face covered accompaniment of funeral march and take a groups of statues of actors of the Passion.

The procession for the Trapani Mysteries is undoubtedly a higly evocative and telling spectacle, and the partecipants become higly involved in it emotionally.

Caratteristic is Marsala where the procession of the “Veroniche”, young girls richly dressed and covered with all kinds of jewels.

Buseto Palizzolo is famous for Easter manifestation at the Easter sunday and procession of Good Friday  with human actors . 

The theatre of Segesta range in holiday the Greek classic tragedy. The splendid natural  panoramic of theatre and the atmosphere plays is unquestionably one of the many ways of enjoying culture which has been important since antiquity.

Another event "da non perdere” is the  perfomance  "Mattanza" of Favignana, tunny killing guided by the Rais. They have performed the same gustures, they have said the same prayers for centuries and is only opportunity for see the tunny fishing.

We must also mention the international festival of  cuscus at San Vito, a meet for all culinary of the Mediterranean country.

 Most another events, rich  of charm, suggestion and  big partecipation that  cheered and sign the annual cycle this land.
