Ecotourism - Case Colomba Trapani |

On one peninsula slopes of the Monte San Giuliano, alonge the sea there is the more ancient nucleus of the city of Trapani. In this peninsula the Sicani founded the first village with the name of Drepano. Later with the Fenici in the VIII sec. B.C. this "emporium" acquired importance and its strategic port of market was part of the punic strategic system. The town, under the Romans and Bizantino, lost much of its ancient prestige, had importance in the Arabic period. The Arabic domination carried new customs and new characters to the town still noticeable in the intricate end articulate alleys and blind narrow lanes of the town. With Normann Trapani became regie town. In this period Trapani had development with the coral
industry and the goldsmith's shop, the production were exported
all over the world . In trapani there where consulates of the Genoans,
the Venetians, The Catalans, the Pisans and the French. To visit: The Annunziata Sanctuary of the 1315 with the fifteenth-century Gothic portal. The Pepoli National Museum is in the former Annuziata convent, where archaeological collections includes Phoenician, Punic and Roman material from various place; several sculptures coming from sicilian schools : collections of corals and goldsmith's shop done the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries. |
