Ecotourism - Case Colomba Mothia |
Thanks to its very favourable position on trading routes, soon became one of the most important Phoenician colonies. Mothia infact is a small island part of the greatest lagoon of Sicily called Stagnone.
A boat service will take you ther in few minutes in the fascinating small island acquired from Whitaker that collected 10000 pieces today exposed in the museum. The rests of the city are enclosed between the vegetation and dunes. Still now is possible to admire a rare example of a Punic artificial harbour (cothon), the sacred area where the Phoenician made sacrifices (tophet), the house of the mosaics and the atelier of the potters.
