Mothia

Thanks to its very favourable position on trading routes, soon became one of the most flourishing Phoenician colonies. Mothia infact is a small island  that ago a part of the greatest lagoon of Sicily  asked Stagnone.

A big boat service will take you over in few minutes in the fascinating small island that it was acquired from Whitaker that carried out you the diggings and very collected 10000 pieces today exposed in the museum.

The rests of the city are enclosed between spots of green and dunes. Still they can be admired a rare example of a Punic artificial harbour (cothon), the sacred area where the sacrifices (tophet), the house of the mosaics and the atelier were carried out of the potters.
