The biggest islands in the Egadi archipelago, the most popolata and famous because is indissolubly connected with the "mattanza", slaughter of tunny-fish, that punctually is organaized every year from the favignanesi fishermen. Here
in fact we have the biggest tunny-fishing grounds in the Mediterranean, today
superb example of industrial archaeology, than in these years it has found again
shiny thanks to the "week of the Egadi" that it has made to discovery
again the cultural and historical importance of the tunny-fish. The island is rather flat and one can ride a bicycle lla over it. It is largely made up of tufa, which has been sed for building since time immemorial. There are deep quarries, partly dug out by man partly caused by bittle rock subsiding. The coasts are full of inlets, bays and grottoes, and the sea is turquoise and clean, with dazzling reflections.
