Castelvetrano

            The origins of Castelvetrano are believed yo go back to the ancient ancient Sicane populations of Legum and, subsequently, of the colonies of veterans from Selinus, but historical documentation of rhe existence of the town only dates from Angevin period.

            In 1299 Frederick of Aragona assigned the town to the Taglavias that, in the 600 years succeeded to you, rendered it it prospers and they enriched it of monuments and churches until becoming in the 1522 county and, in 1564 with Filippo 11, principality.

            In the 1800 domination of the city step to the Saporito family to which it must to the building of the Selinus theatre and the start of numerous industrial activities. 

            Today, Castelvetrano is prosperity above all from growing grapes and olive and consequently from the export of wine and oil. We advise the refueling in the frantoi of the place.
