Castellammare del Golfo

At the feet of the Inici mount, rugged mountain rich in luxuriant vegetation, the town slopes gently down towards the sea, from which in antiquity it drew maintenance with the peach and the commerce.

Castellammare came into being as an amporium of the town of Segesta least until the 827 b.C., when it became an Arab place. It was later the Arabs thate made the place - renamed "Al Madarig", "the steps" perhaps on account of a rough and very steep street.

In fact the city with the Arabs was fortified with the building of a fortress and also into a important commercial centre , with the building of the tuna station and the port used for commercialize the grain.

The prosperity of the city you continue also with the successive dominations that gave a strong impulse trade transforming them it in one of the more important centre of the province.
